What IN The World Are We Doing?

imageOur world is in an apparent mess. If you are living in this century then you know what I am speaking of. You can turn on any electronic device or your television and see what kind of mess we humans are capable of producing. You can simply walk outside of your home and instantly be bombarded with ominous signs of doom and gloom from every angle. There is no shortage of headlines about the acts of a corrupt government, perversion in our society and the flagrant abandonment of God’s Word and statutes.

We see troubling headlines and people wringing their hands while audaciously declaring how God isn’t fixing our mess that we created even though many have asked Him to vacate the premises. Many people want the benefits of blessing and freedom without accountability and submission.

It doesn’t work that way and although God doesn’t need me to defend Him, I cannot keep silent about all of this because I believe it is past time for us to wake up from our slumber and cry out to God like never before…not a cry to fix this, but a cry of repentance and submission to His ways. God doesn’t make messes. The problem is that we, the church relinquished ambassadorship and it needs to be reclaimed.

What IN the world are we doing? If you are a follower of Jesus Christ then you are an ambassador of heaven (2 Cor 5:20). An ambassador is defined as such: the highest-ranking person who represents his or her own government while living in another country. Another definition states that the representative is appointed for a special and often temporary assignment.

When Jesus prayed to the Father before He was arrested, He prayed for His disciples who were not of this world (John 17:16). We are deemed citizens of heaven in Philippians 3:20. We are on loan from the Kingdom of heaven as high ranking officials, representing the government of God. We are in the world, but not of this world. We are “legal aliens”. We are here on assignment. Not just any assignment, but to be counted among those who have turned the world upside down.

So why aren’t we turning the world upside down? Why are we okay with someone else doing it only in the wrong way? What IN the world are we doing when the church is not reflecting the Kingdom of God and what’s more, is staining her garment with sin and apostasy?

With all that is going on, it is quite tempting to delete our Facebook accounts and barricade ourselves in our homes away from all of the chaos and despair. It would be easier to turn it all off or act like the world is made of cuddly kittens and rainbows and although I do enjoy a cute baby animal picture occasionally, avoiding the issues does nothing. Our lack of confrontation is what got us into this mess.

I am not talking about arguing and brow beating people. What I am talking about is waging war on hell with our prayers and our prophecies…reclaiming a holy standard and fulfilling our God appointed assigments as ambassadors of heaven. We as the bride are accountable for the truth of God’s Word and when the bride decides to adopt worldly values in place of God’s standards, then we misrepresent the Kingdom we originate from and we are poor ambassadors.

I do not want to be a poor ambassador of Christ. I am tired of glazing over articles and news clips of rampant evil and perversion and going about my  business instead of doing the Father’s business with prayer and petitioning heaven. I understand the need to personally repent for being complacent and to not ignore what is going on, but to wage spiritual warfare on these things that would exalt themselves against the knowledge of Christ and bring them low into captivity (Ephesians 10:5). When is the church going to say, “Enough is enough.”? I believe it is past time, but the good news is that there is still time.
