The Cure for the Prophetic Pandemic

The Cure for the Prophetic Pandemic

It is January 21, 2021. No, these numbers do not have a mystical or prophetic meaning. It is the day that the Lord has made, and we are to rejoice in it regardless of the current state of affairs. It is the day after the forty-sixth President of the United States was sworn into office. Though I am personally concerned about the future of our nation morally, I am even more concerned about the eternal state of individuals.  This concern extends to professing Christians. I would argue that it is a day after the “prophetic reckoning”, being that the goal post was moved several times by many concerning the expiration date of their prophecies surrounding the Presidency while decreeing, declaring, and digging in heels to see words come to pass, words which hinged upon their reputations and should have brought a different outcome if they were truly from God.

I say that this is a prophetic reckoning because literally dozens of prophetic words surrounding this historical moment were recorded and made available to the masses for spiritual consumption. It was a prophetic pandemic, and it has sickened the church. There is no shortage of these proclamations, and none of them were correct. None.  You can even find compilations of these failed prophecies online, which provides even more clarity of the serious error having occurred. As someone who came out of this movement, I have some things to say. Though I will likely be labeled a Judas, Jezebel, or having a religious spirit for saying what I am about to say, it really does not matter. I am not here to win over the masses. That desire died the day I came to terms that I was a false prophet and I had been deceived by false teaching while deceiving others.  Erroneous name calling will also not silence me. I love the Lord Jesus Christ more than I do the opinions of others, and I care more about your eternal soul than about your feelings or opinions of me.

Those who would have ears to hear and eyes to see have been given a gift, particularly those listening to individuals who would call themselves prophets of God. Those who listen to them are taking stock in their words while having these same words fall to the ground. Many of these professing prophets are excusing the error and abusing the grace of God. The gift is exposure to the truth and a wakeup call to return to God and to His holy written Word as the source of truth. Speaking like this certainly garners critics and enemies. It is to be expected. These words will be judged while admonishing me for judging others. These words will be tested against failed prophecies rather than the Word of God. Let me remind you that Scripture is sufficient and is the surer word of prophecy (2 Peter 1:19,20).

I have great concerns. I am concerned that those within this movement have essentially placed their faith in the words of men and women to prosper rather than in Jesus Christ to save and provide true Biblical prosperity, eternal life. Allegiances have also been created to where any disagreement concerning these prophets is demonized. If we read our Bibles more than the latest words on prophetic media outlets, maybe we would find that the prophet Jeremiah would have disagreed with this, and that God Himself takes issue with such behavior. I am concerned that falsehoods clearly contradicting Scripture are willingly accepted and never questioned or tested. For instance, no where are we told in Scripture that false prophecy is acceptable or that we are to simply apologize for not hearing God correctly. We are not told in Scripture to practice hearing the voice of God. We are not told that accuracy is not as important as being loving. If we loved these people who are falsely prophesying, then we would tell the truth. This behavior is irreverent to God, and it brings reproach to His Name.

There is great concern that a simple apology suffices while true repentance seems to be lacking and not demonstrated. Repentance would lead to a change in thinking and actions. It would lead back to Jesus Christ and not to a person’s “ministry”. The fear of the Lord is severely lacking here, and this is what concerns me the most. There were people speaking on behalf of Almighty God and declaring that He said something when He did not say it. If this does not bring conviction of taking the Lord’s Name in vain, I am not sure what will. Jeremiah 23:21 tells of the prophets who ran yet were not sent by God. They prophesied, but God did not speak to them. They go on to confess their dreams and their visions, drawing men unto themselves. God warned the people prior to this revelation not to listen to these prophets because they were filling the people with vain hopes and visions of their own minds (Jeremiah 23:16).

If you hear someone point back to their perceived accuracy, their numerous visions, their supernatural encounters, their high number of social media followers and views, and there is no preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ or teaching of the Word of God in proper context, and there is no call to repentance nor any urgency of the wrath of God, you should not listen to that person.

One of the professing prophets had said concerning the election that “God is using this (the election) to expose the inaccuracies.” I agree with this statement except in this way. God used this election as well as the pandemic to expose the inaccuracies of these prophets. Some will say, “Grace, grace.” I would say that both grace and mercy are indeed being shown, not in the approval to be inaccurate, but in not receiving the death penalty mentioned in the Old Testament for falsely prophesying. By misunderstanding God’s grace, which is receiving what is not deserved, God’s mercy, which is not receiving what is deserved, is trampled underfoot.  God is extending grace and mercy to many that will listen to the truth.

My allegiance and your allegiance are not to men. It is to God, to Jesus Christ, the One who is our Prophet, Priest, and King. In these last days, God has spoken to us by His Son (Hebrews1:2). I have no obligation to listen to words proven to be false, and neither do you, and neither myself nor anyone else calling into question a self-professing prophet’s words is coming against God. That is manipulative, self-serving, and frankly, it is dangerous to say such a thing because modern day prophecy is now being placed on par with the canon of Scripture, and prophets are being placed on par with God. The church is being told by some of these professing prophets that it is the church’s fault for not praying enough, for not fasting enough, which essentially says that man’s will and works can override the Sovereign will of God. But some things do not make sense. If the authority of these prophets is so powerful, why aren’t their prayers equally powerful? Why do they put conditions on the prophecies, saying that something will only come to pass if you do something? It would seem to be a way to avoid responsibility and fallibility.

God has indeed spoken through His Word, and His Word says that if a prophet’s words do not come to pass, that prophet has spoken presumptuously. You are neither to listen to that prophet nor to be afraid of that prophet (Deuteronomy 18:22). You are not touching God’s anointed by testing prophetic utterances. 1 Corinthians 13:9 is misappropriated to excuse error, which is interesting because if we apply the prophetic illogic presented to excuse error, the knowing in part was unknown and not prophesied in part, and it is evident in the words released. Respectfully, this misappropriation of Scripture needs to stop. Furthermore, the church is not to blame for failed prophecies, but we are responsible for perpetuating and excusing such conduct. If I could offer one piece of Biblical counsel as a former false prophet, it would be to open the Bible and read it. Stop listening to these people. Do not fear them. Fear God. There is a cure to this prophetic pandemic. It is sound Biblical teaching rooted in the Word of God.

I say with love and the fear of God to those false prophets, repent. You are in error. God’s grace and mercy is being extended to you.

  1. Hello, I appreciate you unyielding commitment to truth. Is it your opinion that there is no place for the prophetic at all or are you calling us to a higher standard for the prophetic? Thank you for your honesty about your journey and concern for the body of Christ.

    1. Cathy, I believe that the Lord still speaks through prophetic utterance, and dreams and visions, etc., but we have to be very careful! Knowing, correctly interpreting the Bible, asking God for understanding and direction will help to keep us from being deceived.

    2. People must quit using terms like “the prophetic” as if it were a well established real thing. Just stop! It is not a real thing, God is not speaking to these people. Sure, some force may be… but it’s clearly not God. Quit trying to make buzzwords like “the prophetic” a thing for Christians. I wish I didn’t seem so harsh, but when people like yourself banter around such terms, you are showing that you are deceived and you are deceiving others. True Christians do not look to men or women who obviously seek to advance themselves as barometers of Christian truth, let alone prophesy. No one needs to seek out “importance” or “standing” in the Christian life. If they are doing so, we must be automatically skeptical of them. Please…! Just read your bible and put away all the foolishness! Time to “grow up” and stop being led by other’s whims and notions. Just read your bible and turn off such influences. No one needs “The Bible, plus _____ (fill in the blank) to be a Christian in todays world. The bible is sufficient.

  2. Ezekiel 13 is very clear how God deals with the false prophets who prophesy out of their own imaginations. He tear the people out of their arms and tear the veil over their eyes and they will no longer be ensnared. We are at that point now. God is coming to the rescue of his bewitched people if they hunger and thirst for truth.

  3. Very well articulated, Dawn. It is clear that your concern here is for a true repentance among those who prophesy from the flesh and imagination, as well as those who have put faith in those words. I fear for the condition of the Body today! We have tried to strip the sovereignty of God, instead placing it on the shoulders of self-serving men and women, but He will not be mocked or diminished by the grasshoppers. In many ways, the church has become like the scoffers of Psalm 2. He laughs. But I believe He also weeps. I am thankful for the exposing, and the fear of God’s response is real, but I pray for His mercy as he sifts!

  4. Thank you for speaking up. Very well said. Where do, if at all ,do you think prophets fit in today? Do you think prophets are being used today?

    1. Thanks, Ruth. I find myself going back to Scripture and to Hebrews 1:1,2. God bless you!

  5. The worst for me is when a prophecy of a “prophet” is obviously wrong but he just excuses himself (or not) and carries on as if nothing seriously has happened. They are doing it in the Name of the living God and should be very afraid of what they are doing.

May these false prophets have the grace and maturity now to accept the truth and put a stop to what they have been doing. So many believers stopped looking at prophecies as it has become a tool in the hand of the devil to deceive many.

  6. I love the title, The Cure for the Prophetic Pandemic…but when all of these prophets started being exposed I truly felt so saddened. So many have gotten caught up. Good message.

  7. Thankyou, Dawn.

In vain have I been looking for a dissenting voice – one that said, this is false, America is under judgement. If anyone said this, I couldn’t find them – because the in-crowd were all promoting each other.

Thankyou for speaking up. It means a lot to me that someone – amyone – is willing to call this madness what it is, but whose point isn’t just “this is false because God never speaks anymore”. (Or have I misunderstood you?)

  8. I love your sincerity in this blog and agree that the pedestals, idolatry (for prophets and Trump), stony hearts, and false humility are being revealed through all of this. Also, the hatred of the “Christians” that are literally making calls for harm and even death to the ones on the “apology tour”. Similar to the mob that was yelling let’s crucify Him. All of it is so grieving to my heart and the Holy Spirit. I was clearly told to not even comment on any of those types of posts after doing so a couple of times. They were done in love, but I was told to not even acknowledge them.

From a different perspective, and my opinion only, on what I feel I have heard –

My spirit completely aligns with the prophetic words on Trump serving two terms as valid and still in progress. The election was stolen, and an illegitimate administration was installed. The people did do their part by voting, and millions were (and still are) praying for His justice to come through. God does not operate on a timeline; January 20th means nothing to Him. I feel He is using all of this to expose everything, not just governmentally, but how broken the Church really is.

What if God has several reasons for delaying the period of a second term?
    • To see which prophets He could trust and had the faith needed for the warfare ahead, by clinging on to the Word they were given. Despite ALL odds, and not cave to the demands for the approval of man.
    • To expose how corrupt our government and the governmental voting system has been for decades.
    • To see how an illegitimate ruler would lead and oppress the people in a short time period. (The enemy’s plan is to have Jezebel, working through Kamala, take the reins. A tyranny that America has never seen before, and would be forced outside of God’s timing.)

I have always had a strong conviction in my spirit that has been unwavering. That God would use the second term to reverse the huge slaughter of millions of babies (Roe V Wade), expose the top law enforcement agencies, international enemies, Supreme Court’s wickedness and keep the ekklesia from draconian religious persecution in the United States (for now). Among many other things.

This has nothing to do with a man, but what God wants to do in America at this specific time and who He chose to do it with. It is only about His Kingdom and the harvest.

By no means, do I believe it will be a walk in the park over the next few years. It will be an even more intense time than 2020 once Trump gets back in. The enemy will be raging and spiritual warfare will be continuously necessary to stop “the next move”.

No matter which person is seated as president, our proximity to the altar will determine how each of us will be used and able to manage all that is coming in order to bring in an unprecedented harvest!

    1. Thanks for your comment, Shay. If I could say a few things. I do not agree with the call to physically harm anyone for “apology tours”. We agree on that. We should be calling them to repent, which is different than apologizing. I simply cannot agree with their words being the Word of the Lord. This is making their words equal with Scripture. They aren’t. The time frame was moved by several, and ultimately, God is sovereign. I would also point out that they held to the time frame of man for the first election in 2016. Apparently, that was sufficient the moment the news outlets called it. The same standards should apply.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is what softens the hearts of sinners to turn from their wicked ways and to be regenerated. Laws will not change that. I pray that abortion and other beliefs contrary to God’s Word end. They are horrible acts and are sinful. At the same time, we must understand that sin abounds because of the god of this world. I assure you, to speak against the “prophets” brings anything but the approval of man. It is God we should aim to please and to fear. God will have His way regardless. Our will and certainly our vote and the presence of corruption, which has been evident for a long time, will not stop His will from coming to pass. Thank you again and God bless you!

  9. Food for thought. Many of the OT prophets, for example the prophet Isaiah, prophesied events that, even at the time of their deaths, had not yet come to fulfillment. Perhaps the people of their day proclaimed them false prophets. We do not know. Isaiah prophesied about a savior being born of a virgin. It was many hundreds of years before that took place.
    Selah

    1. Hi, Sheri! Thanks for the comment. Yes, the Old Testament prophets indeed told hundreds of years before the coming of Jesus Christ and His birth. They also called Israel to repent of their idolatry and called them to return to the Lord. The Bible testifies of Christ. The prophecies about Trump were said by many to have dates and then those dates were moved out by some when things did not happen as they said. Then one of the self professing prophets stated two consecutive terms. What is interesting to me is the church is being told we are not believing the prophets because we are holding to man’s time frame of the election and taking the oath, etc. rather than to God’s time. However, when Trump was elected in 2016, he was certified by the electoral college, and he was sworn in on the date set to do so. Yet there was no one saying then to wait until such a time to say that their prophecy was valid. The goal post is being moved. I also would say that the prophecy of those such as Isaiah had to do with Jesus Christ and not a sinful and fallible man. I know you are not saying this, however, it seems that there are those who are equating the prophecies of Trump to Jesus Christ and putting them on par with Him. It is likely happening inadvertently, but never the less, it is happening. I know some will disagree. We have a mess on our hands with these words. People need to return to the Word of God, the written Word of God. Thank you again for sharing. Just sharing some thoughts.

  10. Thank you for being transparent on a subject that has ruin so many lives. God’s grace has surely been given . Let God be true and every man a liar. Romans 3-4

  11. Great post. Well said, Dawn.
A common denominator amongst all of the false prophets and false doctrine is that they have erroneous, un-Biblical understanding of Eschatology. One’s eschatological understanding determines and drives their Ecclessiology. In other words, by not having sound doctrine and understanding of God’s timeline for the 6 days/ 6 thousand years appointed unto man, they inevitably embrace, spew and self-righteously defend their false beliefs, teachings and prophecies. In short, they are of another spirit.

They fail to understand the whole counsel of Scripture which indicates the utter depravity and spiritual decline of this age which ends in destruction…destruction by the Lord, Himself Who is The Rock which destroys the 10 toes /10 horns of the final kingdom on earth (Dan. 2, Rev. 17). They fail to study to show themselves APPROVED unto God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, RIGHTLY dividing the word of truth (2 Tim. 2:15).

Failure to heed and understand the whole counsel of God and understand the plain timeline the Lord has laid out for mankind’s time on earth yields the corruption and error which has been seen since the first century.
In a nutshell: a humanistic gospel.

Since they fail to study and understand God’s plan, they corrupt the Scriptures and attempt to create a kingdom on earth. Again, bad Eschatology yields bad Ecclessiology. People are desperately trying to establish a kingdom here on earth when this world is not our home and we are not of this world.
Their Ecclessiology becomes a false gospel where mankind is going to take over all the mountains and “Christianize” this world in every sector. The proverbial carrot of revival is coming soon! We will take the nations for the Lord. We are preaching and building the kingdom! Jesus will return to rule the Kingdom we built for Him.

All of this is so contrary to Scripture. Of course those who bring another gospel (not founded on sound doctrine) teach, preach and prophesy that the world gets better and better as we infiltrate and take dominion.
This false doctine and false prophecy is more than casually misapplied Scripture; it is blasphemous. The result of another gospel is the elevating man to the position of the Godhead. We decree. We declare. We take ove. We have authority and dominion. This is the pulse of false prophets and false teachers. They have become “gods.”

If mankind takes dominion and builds the kingdom before Jesus returns….why in the world does Scripture plainly teach that He is going to annihilate the kingdoms of this world and all those who have opposed Him?
He is going to destroy that which He “told us to build so that He would come rule and reign?”

This flipping the Script to make mankind the builder is the height of pride and usurping the role of Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
That is the “gospel of Lucifer,” if you will. He was the one who decreed and declared that he would elevate his throne and his kingdom above God’s.
He is using man to create his one worl kingdom which unites church and state; the 10 toes of iron and clay mixture.
The false christ comes BEFORE Jesus Christ. He comes to power to rule for 7 years over his church/state kingdom. And Jesus Christ comes and destroys the false kingdom.
I humbly submit that these false prophets and false teachers are building Lucifer’s kingdom.
They are of a different spirit.
True humility and repentance and finding the True, Living God is essential for their eternity.

Jesus strongly warned, “take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness.” Luke 11:35.
False teachers and false prophets can never make darkness into light. They cannot rewrite Scripture to fit their erroneous doctrine.
They can never decree, declare and prophesy into existence that which is contrary to Scripture.
They are teaching as light that which is darkness. They are the blind leading the blind. They are the deceived who are deceiving.
They are outside of the Scriptures in every vein. May they find God’s grace and mercy unto true repentance and the true gospel before they reap destruction in their lives.
May the sheep awaken to the Word of God and not the gospel of man.
May people get back to the more sure word of prophecy…the Scriptures while there is still space and time for repentance.
May people study to show themselves approved unto God.
May God truly reach those who still have eyes to see and ears to hear.
May people reject the darkness which they have mistaken as light and may they find the Light which came into this world; the Word who became flesh and dwelt among us.
May they reject the false christ and find the True Christ.

Jesus said, “I tell you that He will avenge them (His elect) speedily, Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:8.

He did not say that He will come and marvel at their faith which was strong enough to influence every sector of society to the point in which they established a kingdom on earth and He will joyfully take His place upon the throne.

It will be so corrupt, devastated and judged unrighteous that He will create new heavens and new earth….judged with fire.

May we return to the Truth of His Word.
    Shalom

  12. Greetings,
Thank you for a well written article. I would also add that most of todays prophetic movement is tied to the NAR and man made doctrines. The biblical definition of prophecy is ignored and divination is glorified. My heart aches for the lack of biblical discernment in the church today. Thank you for sharing and giving God the glory for opening your eyes to the truth.

  13. Bless you Dawn. What happened was actually ordained by God. Our prophetic voice were exactly false, they were failed. There’s a difference between false prophets such as Balaam and failed prophets such as Jonah. So let’s rather call them failed prophets.
Now the whole world is plunging into the Book Revelations at tremendous speed. The Global spiritual climate is as described in the Book. By reading the Book of Revelations I can give a spiritual weather forecast! – under this Revelation climate: there’ll be a global outrage against the Faith. Sin will be the new normal. The Antichrist will successfully change the times and true prophecy will seem to fail, the Saints will seem defeated and worn out by the war, many will fall away and desert the Faith… The international media propaganda which is the waters from the mouth of the Dragon will target the remnant of Believers, (Rev 12) But in the midst of it all the biggest revival in the history of the world, will erupt with the sounding of the seventh trumpet and the glorious manifestation of the Sons of God! That much I can forecast, beyond that belongs to God.

    1. I am going to disagree because the Bible does not speak of failed prophets but false prophets, and really a false prophet has failed because their prophecy is inaccurate, does not come to pass and is not from God because God is not a man that He should lie.

Balaam was not a prophet of God. He worshiped idols and was pagan. Yet he was not permitted to curse Israel, and he in fact prophesied in Numbers 24:17 of a future star and scepter, a prophecy that would be fulfilled concerning Jesus Christ as the Messiah. This example of accuracy should help us to understand Deuteronomy 13 better concerning prophets whose dreams or prophecies come to pass, yet lead men to other gods. This man was idolatrous and though he could not curse Israel prophetically, he found a way to seduce them from God by way of the Moabites.

Jonah was a sinful man who learned about the compassion and mercy of God upon other sinful people doing wicked things. Ultimately, mercy and repentance were presented to the Assyrians in Jonah preaching to them. That does not appear to be failure. God’s will was fulfilled.

The fact of the matter is that this was false prophecy. There is no excuse for it. The Bible also does not speak of a great harvest but a great falling away. All of it belongs to God. He is sovereign and His ways will be fulfilled. It would also be good to clarify on your part what is meant by referring to Revelation 12 and from where you are receiving your exposition of this chapter. Blessings to you!

  14. Thank you for being obedient enough to share the Father’s heart. Thank you! It seems Christians have forgotten that God is still Sovereign and in Control regardless of who is in the White House; and that He can use anyone to fulfill His will.

  15. Thanks for this blog! I’ve only started learning about Scriptural (Reformed) teachings a few years ago (after my charismatic background) and your information helps me.

  16. Wendy, so true about the Dominion Theology folks. The Church has to take over the ‘7 mountains’ of culture before Jesus will return. That is so stupid, and false, and unscriptural. Many of the “big name” prophets on TV subscribe to this teaching. Matt.24, Luke 21, and Mark 13 tell you when Jesus will return.
Apparently—they don’t believe the Word of GOD.
