Prophecy, Post Roe, and the Kindness of God

Prophecy, Post Roe, and the Kindness of God

Several days ago, I came across a few things piquing interest, agreement, disagreement, sadness, and hope. It all circled back to the recent United States Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v Wade and Planned Parenthood v Casey. The first was a social media post from Don Green stating in part,

“Christians everywhere should understand that the change in the law did not produce a single change in a human heart.

The parents and abortion doctors who practiced abortion last week will still find ways to do so this week.

Political leaders will shamelessly pander and demagogue to their pro-abortion base and the media will amplify their voices.

Liberal states will enact more permissive abortion on demand through nine months, for posturing if for no other reason.

Pro-abortion zealots will continue to vandalize churches and pregnancy centers…

In other words, Dobbs will not restrain sinners—it will embolden them.

“America” won’t be turning around until individuals repent and turn to Christ alone by faith alone.

The Supreme Court justices did their job.

The church’s job to proclaim remains.

We are not content with moral legislation.

We aim for moral transformation through the new birth in Christ.”

The share button could not be hit fast enough. Much of what he stated resonated with what I had been pondering. I am one who is unashamedly rejoicing over this decision. As a Christian, a mother, and a human being made in the image of God, this decision is a victory, and I thank God for the ruling. While I rejoice along with many others, the world has not changed much in the past week except in the weeping and gnashing of teeth over the perceived loss of personal autonomy. The world was fallen before Roe was overturned, and it continues to be fallen and subjected to futility. Sin continues, and abortion law going from “the law of the land” to individual states did not change human hearts. It revealed human hearts and the sin sickness of humanity.

The second thing I saw was a video recorded a month prior on a popular charismatic program where two professing prophets spoke, sharing visions and words God was said to have given them concerning Roe v Wade being overturned and the aftermath of the ruling. A vision of the blood of aborted babies mingling with the blood of Jesus on a map of the United States was described, and there was talk of national revival the likes of which we have never seen with stadiums being filled with miracles, signs, wonders, and millions of souls coming into the kingdom of God. The ruling would bring a sudden change in the atmosphere over our country as freedom came to the lost and professing believers were suddenly empowered to advance in ministry. In addition to revival, the seven mountains of culture were said to also be further conquered because of this decision.

This led me to the third area of both interest and sadness, which was to examine the sudden and current aftermath of our country post Roe. Not surprisingly, the sudden change in the climate did not agree with the prophecies, but rather revealed the suppression of truth we read about in Romans 1:19-23a, “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So, they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools.”

Outrage and fear arose from those who grieved over the loss of rights to “reproductive health”. Photos could be found online with signs saying, “Women want Roe v Wade, not Jesus.” A viral photo showed a pregnant woman protesting the decision with the words “Not yet a human” painted across her belly. There were many celebrating and showing their support and relief over the decision, but what you did not see was an overwhelming outcry of repentance toward God and salvation in Christ alone coming to the masses.

The current president of Planned Parenthood expressed outrage at the removal of a Constitutional right to abortion, vowing to continue the fight for women’s rights. However, this will not include the rights of women in the womb, at least this is a personal observation noted. She mentioned how they will love their neighbor in this process while the other side sues their neighbor, but it is worth noting, the unborn baby in the womb is not considered a neighbor.

Politicians were mixed in their reactions, with those opposing the decision calling for impeachment of the justices responsible for the decision, abortion on federal lands, ways to codify Roe into law, packing the Supreme Court, and claiming other rights will now be at stake. Some even went so far as to say that rights such as abortion are the bedrock of our nation. Others expressed concern for future generations in this decision, stating that their rights will be restricted in this area of freedom. Consider what is being said in the last two trains of thought carefully. Consider the generation some hold great concern for in the right to choose death for an unborn baby is the same generation they are saying should be aborted. The suppression of the truth is evident.

There were many other reactions both encouraging and discouraging, even frustrating and heartbreaking. It all leads back to the need for the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the love for others in sharing the truth of the gospel with them. It is the kindness of God leading men to repentance while still being a just God in His judgment of sin. Abortion is sin. It is the killing of a human life created by God. Sin is rebellion against God Himself, and sin brings spiritual death and eternal judgment from God, who is just in His judgment. We love others enough to tell the truth because of our love for God and His ways. The atoning death of Jesus Christ on the cross and His resurrection are the answer. It will always be the answer to those who are lost and seeking their own way. Forgive me, but God’s Word does not need a great production to be powerful. Romans 1:16,17 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

It is the answer for women who have had abortions and need to be reconciled to God the Father. It is the answer for the abortionist and those who assist them. It is the answer for the hardened hearts standing with signs rejecting Christ and for women with pregnant painted bellies suppressing the truth. It is the answer for those professing Christ while compromising God’s ways and embracing friendship with the world. The gospel brings freedom to those enslaved to fear for their rights. It is the answer for the politician and the celebrity. It is the only answer that will truly revive spiritually dead men and women and transform hearts of stone to hearts of flesh.

Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 ESV

  1. while i respect your views on this matter i have to disagree with anyone rejoicing right now. my opinion is believers have a significant challenge established by the overturning of Roe vs Wade. many Christians worked hard for this act to happen. what have they done about the souls of men and women outside the womb? the core of for me the issue of abortion is not murder of an innocent life but of sin and the interpretation of it. Is it sin for a husband to force a wife to not practice birth control and be impregnated by him more times than she desires because some religious person deemed contraception against their faith? Is it sin for women and men who profess to believe in God’s word to practise fornication or adultery? Is it sin that a pregnancy results from their behavior? Is it sin for a mother who is medically fragile to choose to not carry the unborn in their womb to term to save her life? Is it sin to have men use their penises as weapons of war and make the women they conquered bear the result of their rape? Is it sin to have a child of 10 or 11 be forced to give birth to the seed their father, brother, uncle, or cousin implanted in them?

there is much to do as believers. we must choose our battles wisely. our fight is for the souls of all mankind. we are not to cast stones but to do as Jesus did and bring healing to a sin-sick world.

    1. Thank you for your comment, Sheila. This post is not to cast stones, but to get believers focused back on the gospel of Jesus Christ and the truth of God’s Word and loving people by proclaiming the good news in the midst of wickedness and rebellion in a fallen world. You brought up the area of sin among those who are already born, and we would agree that sin is the root of our issues. Attempting to resolve specific sins you mentioned such as rape and molestation with the ending of a human life not responsible for rape and molestation is sin. The gospel is the answer. Biblical discipleship of believers is vital. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, even if we disagree. Blessings to you.

  2. I appreciate your blog and may I add my take on the BIG picture of this entire matter. In the days we are living currently since the fall in the Garden, dun is ever present and it will continue to be until there is a new Heaven and a new earth as stated in Revelation 21. What we see biblically from Genesis to Revelation is an anti-Christ spirit roaming the earth. The result is satan and his demons influence over God’s creation as he knows where we are on the Prophetic Timetable, his time is short and he works through many avenues of evil, especially the Occult and sexual perversion. Abortion is no more than a spirit of perversion connected to list, fornication, rape and whatever other evil sexual act satan would use to spill the blood of the unborn. Next let’s talk about the LGBTQ-XYZ crap garbage that is being pushed in our faces to diminish our society and any form of godly principles left within our homes, families, and even in the Church. We have governmental leaders in office currently that is paying Bills to allow children to choose their gender and finding these efforts. This is an ANTI-CHRIST spirit that somany in the Church cannot identify because they are in such a state of lethery and complacency they are in a state of stuper and slumber. The Church is listening to so called Prophets telling them America is going to get better. Well that is not the Word of God that I read. I could go on, but you get my point. We better repent and stay on our faces before God because things are waxing worse and the sad thing is the Church at large is Asleep!
